European Tours Terms & Conditions
Booking: As places on our tours are limited, bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check availability with us then complete a Tour Booking Form, which with payment of your deposit will secure your place.
Single Room Supplement: If you specifically request a single room when booking then the relevant supplement is payable with the balance of your tour. If you are a solo booking – but are willing to share – then provided we take a booking from another like-minded solo rider there would be no supplement due. Such bookings would be allocated on a strictly first-come, first served basis and until all balances are paid we cannot guarantee a booking made on this basis. In the event that we do not take a booking from another like-minded solo rider, or if having taken two bookings on this basis one subsequently cancels, then the remaining booking would, unfortunately, have to pay the single room supplement. In being prepared to share a room with a complete stranger we cannot be held responsible in any way should either party find the other incompatible. If during a tour one party was to request a single room then the relevant supplement would have to be paid by that party for BOTH sets of single rooms (subject of course to availability).
Payment: Payment should be made to our account at the Nat West bank in the UK. Upon receipt of your booking form we shall send you paying-in slips for our account or alternatively provide you with the account details for you to pay on-line.
Confirmation: Upon receipt of payment of the deposit we shall send you a booking confirmation with details of the balance due which must be paid eight weeks prior to departure. Failure to pay the balance when due may result in cancellation of your booking. Payment in full is required for a booking made less than eight weeks prior to departure.
Cancellation Charges: If you wish to cancel a Tour booking the following cancellation charges will apply:
Period of notice: More than 56 days 29 – 56 days 14-28 days Less than 14 days |
Charge: Deposit per person 50% of total cost per person 75% of total cost per person 100% of total cost per person |
If you choose to withdraw from a tour once it has started, no refund will be given.
We reserve the right to cancel a tour if the minimum number of participants is not reached eight weeks prior to the departure date. In this event we may offer you an alternative tour of the same value or a full refund.
In the event that we have to cancel a tour due to circumstances beyond our control i.e. “force majeure” events (e.g. war, threat of war, terrorist activity, natural disasters etc) or in the event we have to cancel because you have not paid the balance of the booking cost then no compensation payments will be made.
In the event that there is a major change to the itinerary of a tour, which reduces the quality of the tour, if you no longer wish to participate in the tour we may offer you an alternative tour of the same value or you may cancel your booking and receive a full refund.
Your Responsibilities
You must be in possession of a valid British or EU passport. You must bring the originals of your driver’s licence, insurance certificate and registration document. It is a legal requirement in France to carry these papers with your bike.
Please check if prior notice to your insurer is required for a trip abroad as otherwise your cover may be invalid. You should also have European cover for breakdown and repatriation of your bike, yourself and any pillion. This cover should also include the costs of any hire vehicle required.
You must bring an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) – this will be required in the event that you need medical treatment. Failure to do so will leave you liable for any medical expenses.
You should arrange suitable travel insurance to cover cancellation of your holiday and repatriation in the event of illness or accident.
You must ensure your bike is in a roadworthy condition to complete the trip – minimum tyre tread is 1.6mm in France. There is no need to adjust your headlamp, but you should affix a GB sticker to your number plate.
In the event of travel delays resulting in your late arrival it will be your responsibility to continue the tour unaccompanied until joining up with the rest of the group. Bike Normandy cannot be held responsible for any additional costs you may incur as a result.
Disclaimer
You will be required to sign the following Disclaimer upon arrival in France:
You are deemed to be in control of and fully responsible for your bike at all times. Bike Normandy, John and Jeanette Eggleton do not accept liability for any claims, actions, proceedings, death, injury, illness or damage howsoever caused other than through our gross negligence. We reserve the right to ask you to leave the tour at any time if in our opinion your conduct is not that of a conscientious rider. In the event that you are asked to leave the tour no refund will be given.
You will be required to acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to the above Disclaimer, that you have suitable insurance for your motorcycle whilst in France and that you will respect the French Code De La Route.
Our Responsibilities
We shall honour the tour itinerary as far as it is within our control. We cannot be held responsible for anything beyond our control e.g. the unavailability of any amenities or the closure of any attractions. Every effort will be made to find a suitable alternative to fulfill the itinerary.
In the event you have any special dietary requirements we shall forward the details to the relevant hotel(s) however the hotel(s) is(are) ultimately responsible for the preparation of meals.
The back-up luggage van is provided in good faith, but we cannot be held responsible should the vehicle break down or become unavailable due to vandalism, theft or any other unforeseen event.
Luggage is carried at the discretion of Bike Normandy and at the owners’ sole risk. Bike Normandy cannot be held responsible for its loss or damage whilst carried in the back-up van. Furthermore, Bike Normandy cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to luggage or the contents thereof caused due to searches by authorised bodies (Customs, Police etc.)
Bike Normandy cannot be held responsible for late arrival of luggage and personal items should the back-up van be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control.
It will not be an option for pillions to travel in the back-up luggage van, other than in exceptional circumstances.
In the event of an accident the appropriate course of action will be taken. This may involve a delay to the tour in the event that the emergency services are needed. Your patience and understanding will be appreciated and the tour will continue as quickly as possible.
